Early this Autmn, SCC had the pleasure of meeting the Immoreev family at Tephan Love Family House. Tephan is a small shelter located in district 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. The shelter provides 42 children, all of whom are orphans and/or living with disabilities, with a warm and supportive home.
Due to the children’s physical disabilities and/or learning difficulties, most mainstream schools cannot provide a suitable environment for the children, and most of the children study in special education centres such as schools for the blind, rehabilitation centres and continuing education centres.

The Immoreevs is a family that cares about making a difference together. They wanted to meet, greet, and understand more about the people they were helping. Their son Egor took time to learn Chinese chess and play with the children; Mrs. Immoreev made bracelets and necklaces with them, and Mr. Immoreevs gave a donation to send 20 children to school. This family got involved in a very special way and will receive regular updates about the children’s welfare as well as school reports so that they can continually follow the children’s progress.
The Tephan Family House welcomed the Immoreevs and the children were eager to introduce themselves, sing songs, and even put on a magic show for them. Ms. Minh Thu, the shelter manager, shared inspiring stories about children overcoming their disabilities and expressed her happiness in their opportunity to go to school. Both the Tephan family and the Immoreev family saw what joy an education can bring to the lives of children.
