CHARITY CYCLE ADVENTURE 2015 HAS SMASHED 102% TARGET
On Nov 29, 2015, 26 riders accomplished the 6th annual Charity Cycle Adventure (CCA) to support Saigon Children’s Charity (SCC) in their vision of eliminating poverty through education.
This year, the team started in the beautiful hills of coffee capital Buon Me Thuot and then climbed over 1,000m to the scenic town of Da Lat and finished at the popular beach resort of Nha Trang. Although picturesque, this route is not for the faint-heated, being a tough, sometimes grueling course, with its many steep hills, twisting roads and intense heat. In total, the route is over 300km long, and was completed in just three days!
Tim Mullet, the director of SCC shares: “Last year I was inspired by the efforts of the CCA team in cycling the Hai Van Pass. I committed to riding myself this year and it has been an extraordinary 3-day, over 300km Adventure: a terrific group of dedicated riders giving up their time and effort to help raise money for SCC. This year we raised a record amount and we cannot thank the riders and their incredibly generous sponsors enough for helping to give opportunities to so many disadvantaged children. The riders and sponsors really are heroes and champions, and this year are they are Kings and Queens of the Mountains”
Tom Duncan, the Charity Cycle Adventure team leader, who has participated in all of the 6th annual events, talks of his experience: “It is my 5th CCA ride this year and second as Ride Leader. This route has been one of the toughest to date, but as a group we love to raise money to help SCC help children to get an education, to do it in a way that challenges us, and also allows us to explore some very beautiful (and steep!) parts of Vietnam. Our supporters and sponsors have been amazingly generous this year and we will definitely be back again next year to help SCC and the children again.”
The team has overcome challenges of not only the area’s topography, but also the fundraising target of $50,000. CCA team has raised $50,961.20 so far this year.
SCC cannot thank the riders and their donors enough for their generous support. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Evason Ana Mandara, Nha Trang for hosting a celebration, in their exquisite, 5-star resort, to congratule riders on their 300km ride. Without all of your support, SCC could have not gone this far.
We hope what we presented and achieved is appealing and motivating enough for your enrollment to our 2016 Charity Cycle Adventure. We certainly will keep you posted.
