16TH SAIGON CYCLO CHALLENGE – Saturday, 19 March 2016

Racing Cyclo to raise fund for disadvatanged children!

HCMC, 19 March 2016 The annual race Saigon Cyclo Challenge organised by Saigon Children’s Charity at Celadon City (Tan Phu) attracted more than 2,500 attendees and raised USD 25,000 to support Saigon Children’s Charity in its mission of “Eliminating Poverty through Education”. Working towards our 25th Anniversary next year (1992-2017), we are aiming to provide 2,500 scholarships more and build 16 schools in 2016.

The race welcomed 12 teams from a mix of industries and organisations operting in HCMC. In the Grand Final, Guardian won a spectacular victory at the first time participating, over the newcomer AIM and 2 ex-champions Caravelle Saigon, who went home with the Third Prize, and Nutrifort with the Second Prize. In addition to the trophy, Guardian team was presented with a valuable prize package sponsored by Time Bistro, SuperBowl and Saigon Boat. Team challenges which portray the daily life of students in Mekong Delta was warmly received by racers.

Supermodel Ha And – the Event Ambassador, together with her fiancee also participated and cheered on the teams. As a member of the Cheerleading Competition’s Judge Pannel, besides Mr. Adam McDonald, representatives of A O Show and Ms. Nicole Hankins – Director of Nutrifort, Ha Anh presented the First Prize to Great Eastern Life Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the Judges of the Cyclo Deco, including Mr. Douglas Barnes - British Consul General, Ms. Karen Lanyon - Australian Consul General and Mr. Richard Bale - Canadian Consul General, granted the First Prize to Caravelle Saigon for their cyclo decorated in the theme of “Reuse – Recycle”, after the colorful Saigon Cyclo Challenge Parade with 5 other teams.

Besides the cyclo racing, other interesting activities in Kid Zone, Food & Beverage, flea market and especially the Grand Raffle with 50,000 VND/ticket to raise fund for disadvantaged children also attracted lots of participants. Attractive prizes such as a pair of return tickets Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific Airlines, Phu Quoc Holiday Package with Vietjet Air and Salinda Resort, and 2 nights’ stay in a villa of Banyan Tree Lang Co Hue were presented after thrilling draws. Ms. Camilla Kent Christensen, a spectator, shares: “It is not important to me whether I win in the raffle or not. What matters is supporting the children for them to get an education”.
