Songs For A Brighter Future

Caravelle Hotel presents Welsh Choir for Saigon Children’s Charity.

Two years after their last appearance in Ho Chi Minh City, the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir returns on 16 October 2010 for a special charity event named “Songs For A Brighter Future” at the Caravelle Hotel - Ballroom.

Founded in 1978, the all-male choir is a group of amateur singers whose music celebrates the folk sounds of Wales. Many of their performances serve charitable purposes. In 2004 and 2008, the group performed in London’s Royal Albert Hall and in 2009, the choir sang from the Great Wall of China.

The proceeds of the event will be directed to Saigon Children’s Charity and its educational initiatives. The funds will be raised through both entrance ticket sales and sponsorships. Tickets to the event cost VND 1,500,000 per person.

“Being Welsh myself, I always look forward to the Welsh Choir visiting Saigon”, said Mr Martyn Davies, General Director of Chains Caravelle Hotel Joint Venture Company. “Their music is a world away from the usual fare in downtown Saigon. It’s a wonderfully transporting experience,” said Mr John Gardner, General Manager of the Caravelle.

The evening’s entertainment gets underway at 6:30pm with music by Chamber Music Group (Tieng Duong Cam Company) as well as other performers, and a painting exhibition and silent auction in the hotel’s Opera Rooms. After a short presentation representatives from Saigon Children’s Charity and a short fashion show, the choir will perform two sets while guests enjoy a set menu dinner prepared by the Caravelle’s kitchens.
The night’s festivities will also include a lucky draw raffle. Raffle tickets will be sold at VND 100,000/ticket.
