The following inspiring story is about Quach Tieu Nhat who overcame his barriers to fulfill his passion.
From a young age, Nhat’s father was not on his life. Later, his mother also left him to Binh Dinh to live with the new husband. From that time, Nhat lives with his cousin in Daklak. In 2015, with nobody to rely on, Nhat dropped out of school and went to the city to find a job. Since then, Nhat has experienced dramatic changes in his life.
In 2016, Nhat was taken in by a shelter who provided him with a bed every night. In the mornings, he worked at a coffee shop, while studying at a Continuing Education Center in District 1. After graduating from 9th grade in May 2018, he could no longer cover his meal and school fees. He had to stop studying, and decided to undertake vocational training, in order to make an income.
In September 2018, Nhat signed up to Saigonchildren’s ‘Vocational & Skills Training Programme’, allowing him to attend a Bartending class at Saigontourist’s Middle School of Tourism and Hospitality. Nhat was determined to develop his skills in bartending, in order to find employment and a stable income for the future.
After Graduating in January 2019, Nhat applied to become a bartender at ‘Joy Coffee’ (32B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai district 1), in March 2019, where he earnt a salary of 4.5 million VND per month. Recently, he has started a new job at Bar Racha Room (No. 20 Mac Thi Buoi, District 1), with a starting salary of 4.5 million VND per month. Hopefully, with training from a professional environment and enough hard work, Nhat will quickly become confident in his skills; developing further along on the path that he has chosen.
