School Building and Learning Environments

On the occasion of the new school year 2014 – 2015, SCC was very glad and excited to inaugurate beautiful kindergartens and primary schools for our students in this school year.

There were 2 new kindergartens and 6 primary schools with 17 classrooms in total ready for disadvantaged children in Quang Tri, Tra Vinh and Hau Giang province to come and study. These happened thanks to the commitment to support and develop the community from companies and organisations such as Prudential, ANZ Bank, Credit Suisse Singapore Bank, Elsereine Japan, AEFA Japan, and Charity Cycle Adventure’s riders.

The commitment from our sponsors did not stop at funding for these projects only. Many of their staff members were very eager and insisted on participating in our Challenge Day events to make a personal contribution to the construction progress of these schools.

Therefore, in a short time, schools with essential facilities and supplies for children were created to replace the old and degraded ones. The students could feel free to learn and play in a safe and clean environment. The parents could ease their mind when their children were learning and playing in their new schools. Furthermore, these new schools were built with high hope in terms of gradually decreasing the rate of students who could not go to school due to the lack of classrooms.

Picture on the left: the old and dilapidated classrooms had had only 12 meter squares for children to learn and play.

Picture on the right: the new Tap Ngai kindergarten had 2 larger classrooms which helped the children to learn and develop better.

The new Bung Tau primary school had 2 decent and furnished classrooms to replace the dilapidated and unsafe ones.

Ba Tang Primary and Secondary School were supported with 5 good quality classrooms to replace the old and unsafe ones.

Looking at students’ faces which were full of happiness and excitement at the inauguration ceremony of the new schools, SCC felt proud of what we were doing. We hoped they would have more good reasons to go to school in order to escape from poverty.

However, there are many schools that are ramshackle and unsafe for students. Even worse,  other students in many places cannot go to school because of a lack of classrooms.

Thus, we always welcome all physical and financial support from companies, organisations and individuals inside and outside of Vietnam to help provide a safer educational environment for our students. From there, disadvantaged students have an better opportunity to go to school like others. Above all, the community can aim for a higher goal of “eliminating poverty through education”.

Please join hands with us to create a safe and fun place for children to learn and play in deep rural areas! Please click http://saigonchildren.com/wish-list.aspx to know in details.
