SCC together with The Dariu Foundation has been running
a Microfinance programme in Dong Nai for the past
three years. The aim of the project is to help poor
women with young children to escape from poverty by
lending them some money to invest in income –
generating activities.

On 10 November 2006, Abbott and SCC opened two brand
new classrooms in Dong Nai. The school, transformed
from a temporary iron-roofed bamboo structure into
a new concrete one, now serves 70 children aged 6-9
in classes 1 and 2.

On 17 October 2006, more than one hundred local authorities,
local newspapers and television came to the ground
breaking ceremony of the construction of the centre
for deaf children. The Centre will become the focus
for early intervention for the whole province.
