Ánh Kim grew up in a crowded family in Tân Phước District, Tiền Giang Province. Previously, her parents worked in agriculture and did manual labour to provide for their children. As they grow older, they’ve had to reduce their workload, which means Ánh Kim’s two older brothers, who are officers in Mỹ Tho City, are now responsible for ensuring her continuous education. Since 2017, Kim has been a scholarship recipient of Saigonchildren.
Similar to many of her high school classmates, Ánh Kim plans to take the entrance exam to gain admission to a university in Hồ Chí Minh City in the next four years.

For a long time, Kim has dreamt of working in the aviation industry. Partly because she wants to explore different and interesting places, and partly because she admires the well-groomed and courteous manner of cabin crew members when interacting with passengers. After careful research, she decided to apply for a major in Business Administration at the Vietnam Aviation Academy, which would provide her with specialised knowledge of the economic aspects of the aviation sector.
At the end of her third year, she came across a job opportunity promoted at her school and applied to become a Ground Services Supervisor at Vietjet Air’s ground operation in May 2023. Her work hours depend on the daily flight schedule, and it involves rotating shifts. Therefore, she usually coordinates her shifts with colleagues to avoid conflicts with her classes.
Initially, Kim faced difficulties in adjusting to her work schedule, especially the late-night shifts, as she had to balance sufficient sleep with attending school in the morning. Fortunately, she soon adapted to the new timetable and found that the job aligns well with her qualifications and abilities. Kim shares that she intends to continue this favourable job, at least until her graduation next year.
Aware of her family’s circumstances, Kim remains committed to excelling in both her studies and her job to put her parents at ease and make her brothers proud. She considers this aspiration a heartfelt gift to her family, a way of expressing gratitude to all the members who have always placed their trust in her and supported her in achieving her dreams.
