Graduation Ceremony of the 15th Hospitality Course for Disadvantaged Youth

date_range2018-03-16

The project supporting vocational training for disadvantaged youth in HCMC was organized by saigonchildren in collaboration with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tan Phu, sponsored by REPSOL Vietnam. This course in the hospitality industry has been offered since 2007, and the 15th course has now been successfully completed. In the past 11 years, the professional training course has provided free training to 585 young people living under difficult circumstances. Of the 463 students who have successfully graduated, 86% have stable jobs with higher salaries than the standard income of HCMC (currently 3.5 million VND per month).

During the last 6 months, students have had the opportunity to study and practice different hospitality skills, such as desk preparation,  bartending, English communication, computer skills and especially life skills. This knowledge and skill set will help them to be more confident when starting a new job. In addition, saigonchildren also supports young adults to pursue part-time and full-time internships at renowned hotels to enhance their work experience.

On March 15,  saigonchildren held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the 20 trainees that graduated successfully. This is a landmark event to bring their learning to a close and open a new door full of opportunities for them with the help of saigonchildren.
