COVID-19 is not only a global health threat but is also pushing millions of people worldwide further below the poverty line due to it’s massive effects on the global economy. As a charity working with impoverished children, this crisis has immediate impacts on our beneficiaries and their families. Therefore, we have called for emergency funding to support those in need as soon as possible. KONE Vietnam is one of the major donors who have generously supported this initiative.
Thanks to KONE Vietnam, 210 emergency aid packages have been successfully delivered to the families of our poorest children in Ho Chi Minh, Dong Nai, Tien Giang, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, and Tra Vinh.
According to Mr. Bas Degeling, Managing Director of KONE Vietnam, the company focuses a lot of its CSR on supporting children’s wellness and education. “In this crisis, the subject that we think about first and that we think will be affected the most is children. We are happy to learn that Saigon Children’s Charity, with their extensive network with the local authorities, is providing urgent support to children in need during this time.”

KONE Vietnam is subsidiary of KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry. Since setting foot in Ho Chi Minh City in 2009, KONE has grown its operations in Vietnam and now provides quality service to customers by incorporating emerging technologies into their offerings.
Saigonchildren’s emergency COVID-19 appeal has raised over $US100,000 to address the urgent needs of the families of our impoverished children with immediate support of staple foods, and sometimes books, drinking water, and rent support too. These funds will help a total of 1,800 families, and over 1000 packages have been delivered so far.
