A new modern hygienic facility brightens Xuân Đường School
The Hamlet 2 satellite site of Xuân Đường Primary School is home to around 120 students, located in a small residential area surrounded by vast rubber plantations in Cẩm Mỹ District, Đồng Nai Province (formerly).
During our survey, the school building team found that the old toilet facilities, built many years ago, had severely deteriorated and were no longer safe or suitable, especially for female students.
With financial support from the Lacoste Foundation – United Sweethearts Vietnam, along with reciprocal funds from the local authorities, we were able to build a new hygienic school sanitation facility on the remaining open space in the schoolyard. The facility includes 8 toilets divided equally for boys and girls, handwashing stations, and a wheelchair-friendly pathway. To maintain cleanliness, students are also encouraged to change into slippers before entering.
Since students spend most of their day at school, having clean, safe, and hygienic sanitation facilities is essential, not only for their health but also for enhancing their overall learning experience and enjoyment at school.
RO water filtration systems for 11 schools in Long Khánh
In addition to the toilet block construction, saigonchildren also partnered with Lacoste Foundation – United Sweethearts to provide safe drinking water for students, teachers, and school staff across 11 primary and secondary schools in Long Khánh, Đồng Nai Province.
As part of this initiative, 22 RO filtration systems were installed, giving more than 8,000 students access to clean water right within their school grounds every day. The project not only supplied the machines but also covered the cost of the first two rounds of water testing (every six months) to ensure the water quality remains safe for students. This step is crucial for maintaining the long-term effectiveness of the systems, protecting health, and creating a better learning environment for children.
