In late 2025, severe flooding and tidal surges across several regions of Northern Vietnam left many early childhood education centres damaged and unusable, disrupting learning for hundreds of young children.
In response, saigonchildren launched the Back to Learning 2025 campaign, calling on companies, employees, and supporters to help restore safe and welcoming learning environments so that children could return to school as soon as possible.
Campaign impact at a glance:

Initial emergency response
The campaign began with urgent support for Sơn Ca Kindergarten and Hoa Mai Kindergarten in Tuyên Quang, two of the schools most severely affected by the floods. Water levels reached the second floor, approximately four metres high, leaving classrooms heavily damaged and destroying most of the schools’ furniture, learning materials, and kitchen equipment.
Around 270 children aged 1–5 were forced to stay home while teachers and local communities worked to clean and restore the schools.
On 1 November, saigonchildren completed the refurbishment of both kindergartens. The support included new classroom furniture such as tables, chairs, and bedding sets, as well as essential kitchen equipment to replace items lost in the floods.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, the campaign not only reached but exceeded its initial fundraising goal of $11,000, enabling the support to be expanded to additional schools affected by flooding.

Expanding support in Tuyên Quang
Building on these initial efforts, the campaign continued to support three additional kindergartens in Tuyên Quang. These schools received classroom furniture, learning materials, and construction materials to repair facilities damaged by the floods.
At the same time, 355 packages of daily necessities were distributed to households in two local communities, helping families cope with the immediate challenges following the disaster.
This entire phase of support was fully funded by Amazon Website Services (AWS), whose contribution enabled timely assistance for both schools and local communities.

Restoring learning environments in Huế
Following the support in Tuyên Quang, the campaign expanded to Huế City, which had also experienced severe flooding from prolonged rainfall.
A total of five kindergartens, Hoa Hồng, Hương An, Hương Xuân, Phú Lương, and Quảng Công, received classroom furniture, learning supplies, and essential kitchen items. These improvements helped restore safe and functional learning environments for more than 600 children aged 3-5.
Final phase in Khánh Hòa
In the final phase of the campaign, support was delivered to three kindergartens in Nam Khánh Vĩnh and Nha Trang (Khánh Hòa Province). These schools received classroom furniture, learning materials, and kitchen equipment to help restore their facilities after recent flooding and tidal impacts.
Through this phase, more than 300 additional children now benefit from safer and better-equipped learning environments.

Bringing children back to learning
Over several months, the Back to Learning 2025 campaign helped restore learning environments for 13 kindergartens across multiple provinces, while also supporting families recovering from the impacts of flooding.
saigonchildren would like to express our sincere gratitude to all individual supporters and partners/organisations whose generosity made these efforts possible, including AWS, Virga Foundation, EXO Foundation, Baxter, Asia Counsel, Consular Club HCMC, and ICO. Together, these contributions have helped bring children back to safe classrooms and renewed learning opportunities.
