Charity Cycle Adventure
22nd-24th November 2013
Take a long weekend and join us for a truly memorable trip down to the Mekong Delta. You will travel by private bus to Tra Vinh City on Thursday night where we will connect you with your own bicycle which will be transported down there for you or introduce you to a bike that we will supply you with for the trip. We are very pleased to have Saigon Cycles as the main partner in the event and they know bikes and the Mekong better than anyone!
The trip is designed to provide something for everyone – from the complete first-time cyclist to the hardened adventurer. The Mekong has it all. We will have two groups offering slightly different itineraries depending on what you would like to do. One will be slightly less adventurous and one will offer slightly more challenge and adventure!
Day One – we will head off on Friday morning and start by visiting one of the kindergartens that SCC built and works with before some beautiful cycling through the back roads of the Mekong to Can Tho. This will take us up and over Can Tho bridge which will be quite challenging but memorable.
Day Two – sees us head North back over Can Tho Bridge to Vinh Long. From there you can either catch one of our boats for a gentle ride along the Mekong to My Tho or take the tough (and hot!) route by bicycle and meet the others in My Tho. We will stay overnight in My Tho.
Day Three – the groups will cycle from My Tho to Saigon – D7, HCMC. Here we will celebrate with a great BBQ party before you all head home for some well-earned rest.
We plan to hold an introductory meeting in the evening of 22nd September but we are very happy to talk to you about the trip at any time if you have any questions or concerns. Please contact Craig Eldred, our superb tour leader or call Phuc at SCC today!
Over the first three Cycle Adventures the riders raised well over $100,000 and we are keen to add substantially to that total this year if we can. So – you will need to work hard on fundraising before you even leave your front door!
A registration fee of around $320 (we can confirm this shortly) will cover all the costs of your ride, including your travel, transport, bicycle and equipment, support bus and all your meals and accommodation. We also ask you to get your network behind you and fundraise a minimum of $500USD which will directly go to support the work of SCC.
The money you raise for SCC will play a vital role in helping to achieve our vision to eliminate poverty through education – helping to provide educational opportunities and real life changes for disadvantaged children.
If this sounds like an adventure for you, please contact our dedicated Tour Leader, Craig Eldred on [email protected] or Phuc, Communications Development Manager, on [email protected]
