We are now in the 14th season of Saigon Players, and saigonchildren is proud to be the charity organization receiving donations from the passionate theatre team.

The Saigon Players, founded in 2003, is a small group of foreigners who enjoy theatre. The first Saigon Players production was A Dog’s Life, a one-act play presented at a regular Club Night in 2004. The success of this production was the first indication that English theatre could be a popular source of entertainment in Saigon. With the newfound support the group grew and began to look for ways to give back to the community. The Saigon Players have since supported many organizations in Vietnam for good causes, such as Helping Hand Saigon, Friends for Street Children Association, Operation Smile, Asia Injury Prevention Foundation, the Autism School in Ho Chi Minh City, Christina Noble Foundation, Sunshine Volunteers Group, Loreto Vietnam, and Saigonchildren. Throughout 15 years, and many ups and downs, the core team keeps following their mission to uphold theatre arts while giving back to the community.

In this 14th season, Saigon Players will give their proceeds to Saigonchildren in the March show “Shakespeare in Saigon” by Cenarth Fox and the upcoming show “Private Lives” by Noel Coward in May.

Besides theatre season, The Saigon Players also organize other activities like writing workshops, acting workshops, and networking events to engage new members and participants, which allows it to grow and become more and more widely known in the expat community in Vietnam.
Let’s wait for the next show “Private Lives” by Noel Coward coming soon in May!
