Since the middle of June, saigonchildren has sent 330 COVID backpack packages to help children from impoverished families in Bac Giang province, which was the number one COVID hotspot in Vietnam during the time.
The process faced many difficulties because some areas were blocked, the packages had to be delivered to each community and then gradually to each household in the area. There is a family of five mothers and children, all are infected with COVID-19 and have been being isolatedly treated for a month. Ms. Trinh, the mother, shared with us via phone: “From work, I got infected and then infected all four of my children. Now five of us are being treated in three different places, but fortunately, the children are all good. I was worried at first, but the doctors were very dedicated. I just call to say that the family is getting support, I hope we will reunite soon.”
Each package contains rice, instant noodles, canned meat, other essential food items and a backpack of books, and toys for young children. On behalf of all the families, we would like to send our sincere thanks to BASF Vietnam, the staff at Hoang Long Hoan Vu, the staff at Premier Oil, and many individual donors, for making this speedy delivery possible.
