Green Knights – Environmental Day is a project of saigonchildren’s School Building and Learning Environment programme to raise knowledge and awareness, creating concrete changes in environmental protection for primary school students.

More than 10 volunteers (who are university students in Ho Chi Minh City) and programme staff have visited 8 schools in Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, and An Giang in 5 days from July 29 to August 2 to carry out the project.

“My summer this year was more special because I had the opportunity to volunteer in the project of saigonchildren with other friends who are also young students. Talking, playing, helping cute and obedient children is an unforgettable memory. Working together also helps the volunteers, who did not know each other before, become surprisingly close and well collaborated.” – Anh Thu, volunteer shared.

Over 400 primary school students have learned about environmental protection through many creative games. The children were able to go through 5 challenging stages. In each stage, there are different activities about environmental protection such as learning about waste, categorising household waste; practising good habits; learning how to protect their countryside river; creating recycled toys, etc. Besides, the students also created interesting plays related to the environment.

“It is really fun today. The whole event gives me knowledge about protecting our green and beautiful learning and living environment.” – Tran Thi Huyen Tran, grade 5.

“Thank you to Saigonchildren for creating this meaningful project to help students become more aware and conscious of protecting the green and clean surroundings. It was also an opportunity for us to have many interesting experiences, make many new friends, and have meaningful memories during our precious student time.” – Anh Thu.
