Recently, Novo Nordisk and saigonchildren had an unforgettable experience with a group of high spirited children at a specialised school for children with autism in Cu Chi.
On September 24th, the students of Khai Tri School for Children with Autism in Cu Chi had a chance to share their morning routine with guests from Novo Nordisk and saigonchildren. Instead of learning to read and write, the children here learn life skills so that they can look after themselves. This includes tasks such as planting trees, feeding animals and learning other sustainable skills; guests eagerly joined in with each of the activities.
Novo Nordisk and saigonchildren divided themselves into two teams with respective activities for each. One team helped the students with mowing grass and feeding cattles, whilst the other helped with planting flowers in the school yard.
Besides this, guests also worked with the students to build a fence made from used plastic containers. These plastic bottles had been collected in order to raise awareness about environmental protection.
It seemed that the volunteers were really eager to work and contribute, they even asked to help with building chairs and desks for the new class room; a part of the school’s vocational activites. It was a beautiful moment, seeing how the hard work of students and teachers at Khai Tri school has paid off. All of the students worked diligently and demonstrated the ability to cooperate with other people.
Even though the aim of this visit was to deliver equipment such as chairs and desks for the school, all of the volunteers went far beyond that endeavor and offered the students a wonderful experience with lasting and positive memories. The students happily interacted with the guests and even greeted them in English.
It was not only the students that felt happiness and joy on that day, the guests were also moved by this meaningful encounter. They thought Khai Tri School had done an amazing job and were delighted to be a part of their wonderful work.
