On July 16th and 17th 2014, staff from Prudential Vietnam came together with great community spirit to carry out some voluntary work in Trà Vinh and Hậu Giang Provinces. They came along to Tap Ngai kindergarten (Xom Choi hamlet site, Tra Vinh) and Bung Tau primary school (Tan Hung hamlet site, Hau Giang), which are two of the 7 schools which are being built and supported by Prudential with SCC in 2014.
Over the 2 volunteer days, Prudential staff local to the schools as well as people coming from Prudential’s Ho Chi Minh City office joined in enthusiastically and worked very hard to contribute as much as they could in the time they had, under the kind instruction and careful guidance of Phuong, SCC’s School Building Manager.
With their wish of not helping not just through financial contributions but with real physical help too, all the Prudential Vietnam staff wanted to spend time doing what they could to help in the building of really good quality schools for the children. They painted walls, planted trees for fencing and decorated playgrounds. Although the weather was boiling hot and very humid too, it did not stop them coming out and getting on with the work. Furthermore, they were not afraid of getting a little bit dirty too when it came to painting the walls (and their clothes!!) with many bright, cheerful colours.
Local people and children from the neighbourhood also joined in with the volunteering work and had great fun and were able to show their appreciation to Prudential, who had brought their warm hearts along with the warm weather to these children living in great difficulty in the Mekong Delta.
School Building has been a real focus along with many other practical community-focused projects as part of the Prudential Vietnam celebrations of their 15th Anniversary of establishment in Viet Nam. We are very happy that they chose SCC to be one of their partners in their celebrations and to bring the chance of a better future life for these children and the community as a whole.
