This summer Saigonchildren organized a number of trips to distribute textbooks and notebooks to poor and underprivileged children. 936 students coming from several low-income areas of different provinces and suburban districts of Ho Chi Minh City including Tiền Giang, Trà Vinh, Tây Ninh, Đồng Nai, Cần Giờ and Củ Chi will arrive for their first day of school this year with new school supplies. In addition to the students outside of the city, SaigonChildren also distributed the textbooks and notebooks to 56 children in district four and nine in Ho Chi Minh City.
While textbooks are necessary learning sources for students, unfortunately many parents living in poverty cannot afford to pay for this mandatory learning material and their children have to share the text books with their friends which is seen as a huge disadvantage for them to study.
Just one last step of filling the form, soon this student in Củ Chi will have his new textbooks and notebooks for the new school year.
Students in district 4 and 9 of Ho Chi Minh city are now all excited to the new school year.
On these trips, the representatives of Saigonchildren organized several small games and activities to get the children involved and create a fun and intimate atmosphere. As soon as the students were set in good mood, they were more open to talk about themselves and their goals for the new school year.
Students are talking openly to the representative of Saigonchildren on the visit to Cần Giờ.
School supplies and learning material such as textbooks and notebooks are considered a luxury by many families who are already struggling with putting bread on the plate. Some families feel the burden of purchasing new supplies right before the new school year starts. These trips of Saigonchildren help reduce the families expenses significantly and motivate the students to excel at school not only in the coming year, but well into the future.
