The donors of saigonchildren’s vocational program for the hearing impaired were given the chance to experience the fruits of their labour: having their makeup done by the students that they’ve helped.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. This saying is absolutely true for the donors of saigonchildren’s vocational programme for the hearing impaired – SAITEX; a highly sustainable manufacturing company which specialises in premium denim. The program was implemented with the aim to provide hearing-impaired students with skills that will be useful for particular jobs which do not require much verbal communication, such as: vegetable cultivation, flower arrangement and makeup artistry. Not only does this programme help students to find suitable jobs which will earn them a living, but it also aims to enhance their self-confidence, self-efficacy and personal well-being.
The programme was located at Khuyet Tat Hoa Hong (Rose School for students with hearing impairment – Trang Bom, Dong Nai) with courses that lasted for 8 months. In this time, 4 months were dedicated to courses in flower arrangement, makeup artistry, plant cultivation and budget planning. The remaining 4 months were centered around practical skills, such as harvesting and selling produce.
SAITEX sent six people as representatives of the donors for this programme, who were given the chance to experience, first-hand, the difference they’ve made to these students’ lives. The Rose School students who participated in this programme have gained fundamental skills needed for future work. They even performed their makeup skills confidently on the donors. All guests, both male and female, were excited to have their makeup done by the students.
Even male sponsor were willing to have their makeup done by the students.
They also got the chance to visit the vegetable garden that the students had cultivated. Without a doubt, the help of all the beloved donors has made a true impact on the lives of these hearing-impaired students; providing them with the necessary skills needed to increase their chances of finding a job and a brighter future.
