Day by day, more and more people and businesses have started to take part in the act of giving – especially to the educational sector – and saigonchildren is always grateful to cooperate in projects aiming to improve education equality for underprivileged students across Vietnam.
Recently, 17 scholarships were awarded to beneficiaries in our Child Development Scholarship Programme (CDSP) through the support of Jadestone Energy. Each scholarship, valued at $US210, will annually cover some educational expenses such as tuition fee, books and uniform for a child in need, which will directly provide opportunities for these children to reach their full potential and fulfill their dreams.
Furthuremore, on February 4th, 16 students in the CDSP programme went on a memorable environmental trip to Cần Giờ Mangrove Biosphere Reserve to plant trees with the Jadestone team. Not only were 100 trees added thanks to the day’s hard work, but also the trip taught the youngsters a valuable lesson about environment protection and was a great bonding experience between them and the donors.
As a significant donor of saigonchildren, Jadestone Energy has also recently supported 2 other projects through the partnership. Last November, the company sponsored water treatment purifiers for 3 primary schools in Lý Nhơn and An Thới Đông communes, which are brackish water areas in Cần Giờ district of Hồ Chí Minh City. People living in these areas usually collect rainwater or buy tap water from grocery stores for domestic activities usage; this water may be contaminated and unsafe to drink.
The other saigonchildren’s project involving Jadestone Energy support was to offer 5 sets of desktop computer and one-year teacher cost of computer class at Bừng Sáng Shelter (Hồ Chí Minh City). This is a place which provides housing assistance and proper education for blind and visually impaired youngsters aged 6 to 21 from disadvantaged backgrounds so that they can access and develop social skills and social integration.
