Kinh Cùng Primary School (Phụng Hiệp District) is the home to nearly 1000 students, divided into 28 classes. Its existing computer room has long been a place where students in grades 2 and above study informatics in the computer lab once a week. However, after many years of operation, the room has deteriorated significantly, with over half of the 13 computers consistently malfunctioning.
On August 18th, a new computer lab at Kinh Cùng School has been opened. The room is equipped with 16 new computers, as well as 1 new station computer and a new intranet system, thanks to sponsorship from Manulife Vietnam and the local government. With the introduction of new computers, the inadequate learning environment has received much-needed improvement, ensuring the students are able to follow the accurate learning curriculum from now on.
Exclamations of anticipation and excitement were made by the children in their first encounter with the new computers. The pupils were eager to get their hands on the new keyboards and screens and start learning. Following the opening ceremony, students were given the opportunity to play a minigame on the computers with the help of donors. Each donor was in charge of helping two students complete a colouring task. The task required them to paint the mascot ‘Manubear’ in the colour of Manulife Vietnam, and then use their creativity with the rest of the picture. The students had a wonderful time exploring how the computers worked and being allowed creative freedom on them.
Lê Thị Minh Loan, Vice President of Sales at Manulife Vietnam, stated, “We believe that a better understanding of computer use and the Internet will empower teachers and students to access more valuable information, enhancing their confidence and fostering their logic and creativity development. Therefore, we hope that this new computer room will serve as a supportive ‘friend’ for technology in teaching and learning for over 700 students each school year in the years to come.”
