Tra Vinh, Vietnam – September 28, 2023 – Saigon Children’s Charity (saigonchildren) proudly unveiled another school under the School Building and Learning Environment programme at the O Trao site of Hieu Tu C Primary School, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province. Initiated in April this year, the building project with a total area of 328m2, comprising two classrooms and a playground, promises to elevate the academic environment for the teachers and students. This project, carried out with the support of BASF and its partner, is the 7th school building project of BASF in Vietnam and pledges to benefit to around 100 students annually.
“Education is the cornerstone of a brighter future, and together, we’ve built a path to success for 100 young hearts at Hieu Tu C in Tra Vinh province. As we open the doors to this school, we’re not just constructing a building; we’re constructing dreams, opportunities, and hope for a better tomorrow,” said Mr Damien Roberts, Executive Director of Saigon Children’s Charity, at the opening ceremony.
Located approximately 130km from HCMC, Hieu Tu C Primary School is located in a remote area of Tra Vinh province, which is the home of several ethnic communities, including Khmer. The school encompasses one primary site complemented by three satellite venues. The O Trao satellite site, established in 2009, was the focus of this project due to its deteriorating state. The site is home for 162 students, of whom 159 are from ethnic minority families with major incomes from rice farming or micro businesses.
Mr Erick Contreras, Managing Director, BASF Vietnam, shared, “At BASF, we’re aligned with the UN’s vision of extending quality education to the community. Furnishing the future leaders with safe and conducive academic environments ranks top in our Vietnamese community engagement programs. It’s a rewarding journey, particularly when we progress hand-in-hand with our valued partners to nurture Vietnam’s emerging talents.”
The roof of the new facility used the sandwich panels Proxy meeting EU standards sponsored by Phuong Nam Panel. The school is decorated with the products meeting Green Label Certification sponsored by Nippon Paint Việt Nam.
