On 20th December 2019, the new Tap Ngai C Primary school (Tap Ngai commune, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province) was officially open to welcome students, just in time for the new year. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from saigonchildren, ILA Community Network, the local authorities, as well as all students and teachers of the school.
Tap Ngai C is one of the three primary schools at Tap Ngai commune. Some of the classrooms were built as early as in 1985, with substandard quality, and have since deteriorated. The structure of the building has been damaged and posed a great danger to students and teachers at the school.
With the funds from ILA Community Network and counterpart funds from local government, saigonchildren has been able to coordinate this project to build four new fully-equipped classrooms, as well as a playground, for the benefit of 432 students of the school.
Every new classroom is equipped with new desk, chairs, black boards, and fans. A small toilet has also been added for the convenience of students and teachers.
