24 members joined the QSR Challenge Day on October 10thand 11th ready to meet the ambitious target of beautifying Hoa My Primary school in Hau Giang Province.
The Challenge Day Initiative led by QSR also contributes to saigonchildren’s school building programme and yet again has illustrated that effective collaboration with QSR can yield benefits for disadvantaged children in Vietnam.
The day’s aspiration was to beautify the school and accompanying environment so that students would feel more comfortable and engaged both in and out of the classroom. At the entrance of the building, inviting students in are two depictions of space painted along the two central pillars; symbolizing that there is no limit to their efforts and dreams. The next efforts to restore the school building required painting walls a bright blue and spreading other decorative features like the alphabet stickers widely along the classroom walls.
This was not the only focus as the team took their determination outside where the children go to explore in the fields and the playground. The first step was to greenify the space to provide an aesthetic environment for students to relax in their new community. Team leaders and supporters helped to achieve this goal by assisting the school’s staff to plant trees in the playground and all along the borders. The next step was to make for a more fun and interactive playground with exercises for children to take part in. Strolling along the courtyard, students can now test their imagination; for example, by battling their way through the maze.
Back to the classroom, the learning environment has also been organized and well-laid out with ample space and a new projector. Looking forward to the year ahead, saigonchildren hopes to engage in similar projects that will help to develop schools in a way that encourages and invites students to aspire to reach their goals.
