RKW’S VISIT TO TÂY NINH WITH SAIGONCHILDREN

date_range2018-12-14

The RKW Group – a globally active German film manufacturer  with facility based in Binh Tan District in Ho Chi Minh City – has been a long-time supporter of saigonchildren. The company has been providing almost 100 scholarships for underprivileged students besides resourcing for Hòa An kindergarten renovation project in Hậu Giang since 2016. In addition to focusing on their business, they also like to give a hand in helping the children to go to school as a great way to give back to the community. For RKW, sustainability means combining successful business development and assuming social responsibility.

On December 8th, the representatives from RKW visited Tay Ninh to give out scholarships to the students and see first-hand the support that they have given to students in need. It was a great opportunity for the representatives from RKW to get to know the children better by having conversations with them. This year, at Nguyen Thai Binh High school, the RKW team had open discussion with students about their future and provide very practical career advices for students at the senior year.

One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to Tuyết Ngân’s house – one of our beneficiaries. The students receiving the scholarships from saigonchildren have rather straitened circumstances and Tuyết Ngân is no exception. She was born in 2001 and have been living with her mom in a humble house built by the Red Cross in 2009. Tuyết Ngân’s mom is a single mom and has been raising Tuyết Ngân all by herself. The mother works different jobs which do not pay much to provide her child with food, shelter, and education.

Growing up in poverty, Tuyết Ngân believes education is the best way out and studying hard is the only way to express gratitude toward her mom’s sacrifice. It was a touching moment for the representatives from RKW to visit and learn about the story of Tuyết Ngân’s family. They shared some encouraging words to these two wonderful women and wished them all the strength to get through difficulties that they may face in life.
