Saigonchildren was awarded a certificate of merits for the active contributions in social development activities in Dong Nai Province

On 14th June 2018, Dong Nai People’s Committee in collaboration with Dong Nai province Union of Friendship Organizations (DUFO) held the Conference on reviewing 5-year-implementation of “The national programme on promotion of foreign NGO’s Assistance in the period of 2013-2017” in Dong Nai Province.

In 5 years of the programme’s implementation, there have been 89 foreign non-governmental organizations (FNGOs) and 48 other aid including Consulates, foreign capital enterprises, funds, organizations and individual donors with the total committed aid of more than 6,549 million USD. 188 projects implemented are among different fields: education, social security, healthcare, environment and economic.

Saigonchildren is one of the long term trusted NGO to support Dong Nai province through years. Our projects in Dong Nai focused on providing scholarship grants for unprivileged children with the total amount of 200,000 USD in 5 years, which is 40,000 USD each year.

In addition, saigonchildren has supported many non-project grants in the Child Development Scholarship Programme including 5,475 USD aid for disadvantaged children in Cam My District; as well as 317 tuition fee scholarships and 20 bicycle scholarships worth a total of 5,000 USD. Saigonchildren also provided aid of 15,138 USD in 2017 for children with difficult backgrounds in Cam My District, offering 184 scholarships for students and providing 150 students healthcare check-ups.

In 2016, the School Building Programme of saigonchildren collaborated with Dong Nai People’s Committee to build 3 classrooms for Nguyen Chi Thanh Primary school in Bien Hoa City with supporting aid of 32,696 USD from saigonchildren.

These practical projects of saigonchildren to enhance the education quality for disadvantaged children in Dong Nai province have provided great motivation and encouragement to create a fairer start for students here. To recognize the active contributions in social development activities, in the conference, Dong Nai People’s Committee and DUFO awarded Saigonchildren with a certificate of merits in the period of 5 years from 2013 – 2017.
