On Friday 19th October at 5pm, Saigon Children’s Charity CIO (saigonchildren) is honoured to receive a Certificate of Merit from Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The ceremony is attended by representatives from The People’s Aid Co-ordinating Committee (PACCOM), HCMC Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO), Consulates, and many key donors and sponsors of saigonchildren coming from multinational companies in Vietnam.

On behalf of saigonchildren, the Chairman of Trustees Board – Mr. Alain Cany accept the certificate from Mr Phan Anh Son – the People’s Aid Co-ordinating Committee & Director General of PACCOM in recognition of the profoundly positive contribution that saigonchildren is making towards the elimination of poverty, removing barriers to education and developing sustainability in Vietnam.
Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Alain Cany said: “Saigonchildren has a strong relation with the government and local authorities through the support of PACCOM. Through the years, we have removed the barriers of education and helped disadvantaged children go beyond the limits to achieve and contribute more to the country”
Saigonchildren has been devoted to working in Vietnam for the past 26 years and has developed many programmes and projects to enhance the access to quality education for underprivileged children in Vietnam, including four main pillars: School Building, Child Development Scholarship, Vocational Training and Special Needs Education.
Thanks to the support from their long-term trusted partners and sponsors in Vietnam and around the world, saigonchildren has been able to provide scholarships to over 36,800 students who face difficult circumstances from living in poverty. Furthermore, 192 schools, including 503 classrooms, have been built to benefit 15,000 students in 13 provinces. Not only has saigonchildren devoted their attention to Vietnamese students living in poverty, they have also provided support to 57 Special Needs Education projects. This enables local organisations to receive the resources they require, therefore empowering them to share their knowledge in developing skills to provide children with disabilities the essential skills to reach their full potential.

Throughout the past 26 years, saigonchildren has organised an array of charity events, ranging from the glamour of the annual Saigon Summer Ball, to the strenuous challenges of the Charity Cycle Adventure and Saigon Cyclo Challenge. These events have attracted and involved a wide variety of individuals of different nationalities, backgrounds and professions who have all come together forming a heart-warming community.

The contributions saigonchildren has made towards developing education in the Vietnamese community is recognised by the local authorities, the government and most importantly, thousands of beneficiaries. It is an honour for them to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in their 26th year of being in Vietnam.
