Zwilling J.A Henckels and Saigonchildren launched a three-year project ‘A Good Will Toward Education’
On 19th June, the staff of Zwilling J.A Henckels joined saigonchildren for a ‘Challenge Day’ to paint Tan Phuoc Hung 3 Primary school and help prepare for the final stage before the upcoming opening ceremony on July 2nd. This is the school sponsored by Zwilling J.A Henckels in Vietnam, and they are in the first phase of the three-year project to support the underprivileged kids in Hau Giang province.
Starting January 22nd of 2019, saigonchildren partnered with Zwilling J.A Henckels to create a new project called “A good will toward education”. It is a three-year project to improve the learning environment of students in Hau Giang Province and to support the most needed students of the local community.
The rooms are ruin and downgraded. Built mainly by iron sheets, it is very hot under the shiny sun and noisy in the rain
The playground is pretty small and dusty. There is no shade in the schoolyard
‘A Good Will Toward Education’ is split into three phases: the construction of the Tan Phuoc Hung 3 Primary School, promotion of an inclusive learning environment and lastly the support of the neediest children of the community. The first phase is being implemented. Tan Phuoc Hung 3 Primary School is under construction and will be completed before this upcoming academic year to provide a safe environment in which the children can comfortably study. This primary school has three classrooms measured at 64 meters squared fully furnished with blackboards, chairs, tables and cabinets, a 300 meter squared playground, hygiene facilities.
The second-year aims at giving quality training to 30 teachers in 9 days and granted full scholarship packages or bike scholarships for the most needed students of the local community. With the total fund of US $100,023 (~2.3 billion VND), there will be a new school built, a training course for teachers and around 200 scholarships granted throughout three years. This project will benefit around 1000 disadvantaged students throughout three years and around 90 students each year for the upcoming year.
The third year focuses on supporting deprived kids in the local area continue their learning path by providing them with the scholarships which cover tuition fee and school supplies including uniforms, books, and stationeries. The package also supports emergency cases like medical fee or bicycles, etc.
Saigonchildren was founded in 1992 with an aim to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children have access to adequate education and a fairer start in life. Its School Building Program and Child Development Scholarship Programme have been running for more than 25 years and has delivered over 198 schools with 534 classrooms and around 41,000 scholarships across the country.
