Quỳnh’s Story: Resuming her Education

date_range2023-11-22

Many years flew by without Như Quỳnh seeing her Dad. During this time, her mom, with her modest salary, took charge of everything in the family, including her children’s education. When Quỳnh completed secondary school, her mom wished for her to leave school so she could continue being by her daughter side, taking care of her and let Quỳnh support the family due to the current financial conditions.

Nevertheless, Quỳnh’s desire to pursue education remained strong, and she found a way to return to school. With support from her aunt, she applied to a boarding vocational college located 35km away from her home. Her goal was to obtain an academic diploma and vocational certificate within three years and then secure employment immediately. After two months at the school, she revisited home. Her mom, who initially displeased with her decision, reconciled with her and promised to support her in pursuing her dream. “When Mom said that, I really wanted to burst into tears and felt sorry for misunderstanding her.”

The new environment brought numerous memorable experiences for Quỳnh. Weekly gatherings involving teachers and senior students’ stories helped her adapt and make new friends. Moreover, attending school fostered her independence and communication skills. Most importantly, she was delighted to attend a school that prioritised morality education despite having strict regulations.

Quỳnh majored in Tourism guidance as she wanted to explore diverse angles and delve deeper into historical and cultural values that still exist in contemporary life. She graduated in 2022, after three years of significant personal development in mindset and capabilities, achieving her goal of earning an Excellent degree. “Honestly, getting the opportunity to resume my education career made me over the moon, but I went beyond that happiness as I didn’t regret my choice.”

Recently, Quỳnh embarked on a new journey in Hồ Chí Minh City. As usual, she lives on her own without the presence of her family. However, this presents a meaningful opportunity for her growth and self-improvement, ensuring she lives up to the hope her family has placed in her.
