T.Đ. joined the Early Intervention Project under saigonchildren’s Special Needs Education Programme in 2021, when he had just turned two. From an early stage, his mum noticed some delays in his interaction and language development and sought an assessment for him.
Due to financial constraints, the family was not able to maintain consistent private intervention. Then, they found us. From that point on, T.Đ. began attending weekly free intervention sessions, where he was supported by saigonchildren’s specialists, while his mum also joined parent training sessions to better support him at home.

When he first joined the programme, T.Đ. was beginning to vocalise simple sounds such as “ba ba” and “ma ma”, and could imitate a few single words. He rarely initiated interaction, found it challenging to maintain eye contact during play, and often struggled to stay seated and engaged in activities.
Throughout this journey, T.Đ.’s mother has been a steady and patient presence, working closely with the programme’s specialists. After work each day, she dedicated time to practising supportive activities at home, regularly sharing videos and exchanging feedback with the team. Guided by the specialists, she integrated communication and language practice into everyday situations beyond the one-hour intervention sessions. With the right support and this consistent collaboration, T.Đ. has been able to develop step by step, at his own pace, and make encouraging progress.

Today, T.Đ. is able to use full sentences more flexibly in communication, maintain attention for longer periods, and engage well in structured learning activities. He especially enjoys playing with peers and often takes the initiative to invite others to join him.
Like many children his age, T.Đ. started Year 1 at a public primary school in the 2025-2026 academic year. He enjoys going to school, has adapted well to the new environment, and is able to follow classroom activities. He has developed early reading and writing skills, and can complete basic addition and subtraction.

T.Đ. is currently continuing in the transition phase, with ongoing guidance from saigonchildren’s specialists. This includes participation in the LEGO Club project, where play-based learning is used to support skill development. He will also be followed up for three months, while his mum continues to reinforce supportive activities at home alongside his school learning.
