This October, the Mid-Autumn season was bursting with laughter and joy for children supported by saigonchildren.
As an annual get-together for scholarship recipients, this year’s Moon Festival Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Đồng Tháp Province, bringing together nearly 400 students, the largest number of participants in recent years.

Though they came from different schools and grade levels, from primary to high school, the children quickly connected, teamed up, and cheered each other on through every game under the bright sun. The excitement reached its peak with vibrant performances, and the day ended with bursts of laughter and sparkling smiles as the lion dance drums echoed across the schoolyard.

Each child received thoughtful gifts including mooncakes, school supplies, and sweets, making the festival spirit even more complete. Many were especially thrilled to receive desk lamps and thermos bottles. One student exclaimed with innocent delight, “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a water bottle like this. I really love it!”

Meanwhile, children from saigonchildren’s free early intervention project also had their own joyful Mid-Autumn celebration with their families. The outdoor picnic, joined by volunteers from LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam, created a warm and welcoming space for children, parents, and siblings to come together.
Our Special Needs Education team prepared lively game stations, dance activities, and creative corners where children could decorate lanterns and make phục linh cakes, a traditional Vietnamese rice flour sweet. Families laughed, played, and shared precious moments together, just like at a true family festival.
Whether in a lively schoolyard or at a cosy outdoor gathering, the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival shone brightly: a celebration of joy, togetherness, and care for every child. And for saigonchildren, the brightest moon that night was surely the happiness glowing in every child’s eyes. ✨
